He has held visiting and teaching appointments at the Australian National University, Canberra, Australia; the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA; the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Bangalore, India; the University of Melbourne, Australia; the Kyoto University, Japan; the Texas A&M University, USA; the NASA Langley Research Center, Hampton, Virginia. Marco Claudio Campi was the Chair of the Technical Committee IFAC on Modeling, Identification and Signal Processing (MISP) from 2014 to 2020, and the Chair of the Technical Committee IFAC on Stochastic Systems (SS) from 2002 to 2008. He has been in various capacities on the Editorial Board of various journals, including Automatica, Systems and Control Letters and the European Journal of Control. Marco Campi is a recipient of the "Giorgio Quazza" prize, and, in 2008, he received the IEEE CSS George S. Axelby outstanding paper award for the article The Scenario Approach to Robust Control Design. He has delivered plenary and semi-plenary addresses at major conferences including SYSID, MTNS, and CDC. He has been for four terms a disinguished lecturer of the Control Systems Society. Marco Claudio Campi is a Fellow of IEEE, a Fellow of IFAC, and a member of SIDRA. The research interests of Marco Claudio Campi include: inductive methods, data-driven decision-making, system identification, stochastic systems and control, randomized methods, and learning theory. |
![]() | Prof. Sushmita MitraIndian Statistical Institute, IndiaSushmita Mitra is a full professor at the Machine Intelligence Unit (MIU), Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata. From 1992 to 1994 she was in the RWTH, Aachen, Germany as a DAAD Fellow. She was a Visiting Professor in the Computer Science Departments of the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada; Meiji University, Japan; and Aalborg University Esbjerg, Denmark. Dr. Mitra received the National Talent Search Scholarship (1978-1983) from NCERT, India, the University Gold Medal in 1988, the IEEE TNN Outstanding Paper Award in 1994 for her pioneering work in neuro-fuzzy computing, the CIMPA-INRIA-UNESCO Fellowship in 1996, and Fulbright-Nehru Senior Research Fellowship in 2018-2020. She was the INAE Chair Professor during 2018-2020. Dr. Mitra has been awarded the prestigious J. C. Bose National Fellowship, 2021. Dr. Mitra is the author of the books ``Neuro-Fuzzy Pattern Recognition: Methods in Soft Computing" and ``Data Mining: Multimedia, Soft Computing, and Bioinformatics" published by John Wiley, and ``Introduction to Machine Learning and Bioinformatics", Chapman & Hall/CRC Press, beside a host of other edited books. Dr. Mitra has guest edited special issues of several journals, is an Associate Editor of ``IEEE/ACM Trans. on Computational Biology and Bioinformatics", ``Information Sciences", ``Proceedings of the INSA", ``Computers in Biology and Medicine", ``IEEE Trans. on Fuzzy Systems", ``Neural Networks", a Founding Associate Editor of ``Wiley Interdisciplinary Reviews: Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery (WIRE DMKD)", and a Senior Associate Editor of ``Sadhana". She has more than 150 research publications in referred international journals. Dr. Mitra is a Fellow of the IEEE, The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), Indian National Science Academy (INSA), International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR), Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association (AAIA), and Fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences (IASc), Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE), and The National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI). She serves as a Member of the Inter-Academy Panel for Women in STEMM, and a Member of the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Groups of CAETS and IAPR. Dr. Mitra is a Member, Scientific Advisory Committee, National Institute for Theoretical and Computational Sciences (NITheCS), 2025-2028. She has visited more than 30 countries as a Plenary/Invited Speaker or an academic visitor. She served in the capacity of General Chair, Program Chair, Tutorial Chair, of many international conferences; was the Chair, IEEE Kolkata Section (2021-2022) and an IEEE CIS Distinguished Lecturer. ![]() | Prof. Kefan XieWuhan University of Technology, ChinaKefan Xie, male, from Yiyang, Hunan Province. He holds a doctoral degree and was a postdoctoral fellow at Kyoto University in Japan, as well as a visiting scholar at the University of Toronto in Canada. Currently, he is a secondary professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Management of Wuhan University of Technology; a member of the 8.9 working group of the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP), an executive director of the China Society for Science and Technology Policy Studies, an executive director of the China Soft Science Research Society, the vice president of the Hubei Provincial Society for Science and Technology Management Studies, the vice president of the Wuhan System Engineering Society, the deputy editor-in-chief of "Wuhan University of Technology Journal (Social Science Edition)", a member of the editorial board of "Science Studies" and "Progress in Science and Policy", and serves as an expert in the provincial government's decision-making consultation committee, an expert in emergency management of the Hubei Provincial Government, and a youth entrepreneurship mentor in Hubei Province. He was a member of the 9th, 10th, and 11th sessions of the Hubei Provincial People's Congress. He has published over 180 academic papers in international academic journals and in the following journals: "Management World", "Systems Engineering Theory and Practice", "China Soft Science", "China Management Science". Among them, 11 papers have been indexed by SCI and SSCI. He has also led and participated in the completion of over 50 scientific research projects. He has led the completion of 5 National Natural Science Foundation projects (including 1 major research plan nurturing project), 1 National Social Science Foundation project, and 1 National Soft Science Research Plan major project. He has received 12 provincial and ministerial-level science and technology awards (including 3 provincial-level science and technology second prizes and 4 Wuhan Science and Technology Progress second prizes). |
